# How to book the PTE Academic exam

Book PTE Academic only through Pearson. PeakPTE is practice. We do not sell seats, vouchers, or official scores. This guide follows Pearson's published booking flow so you avoid the mistakes that cost a full fee.

## Before you book

1. Confirm you need **PTE Academic**, **PTE Academic UKVI**, or **PTE Core**. See [PTE Core vs PTE Academic](/pte-core-vs-pte-academic) and Pearson's [which test](https://www.pearsonpte.com/which-test-is-right-for-me/) page.
2. Have a valid passport (or check Pearson's [ID policy](https://www.pearsonpte.com/help-center/booking-managing-test/) for accepted alternatives).
3. Use the exact spelling of your name as it appears on that ID.

## Step-by-step booking

Pearson's outline:

1. Open [Book a test](https://www.pearsonpte.com/) on pearsonpte.com.
2. Answer where you want to go and what you want to do (study, work, migrate). Pearson recommends a test.
3. Choose **Check availability and book**.
4. Pick a country, test center, date, and time. Seats can appear as little as 24 hours ahead when available.
5. Create or sign in to your **myPTE** account.
6. Enter personal details that match your passport exactly.
7. Accept Pearson's admission, reschedule, and cancellation policies.
8. Pay. Fees vary by country. See Pearson's centers and fees page. Do not trust a random third-party price list.
9. Save the confirmation email and check every detail.

## The passport trap

On test day you must present ID that matches your booking. If the name, date of birth, or other required fields do not match, Pearson can refuse entry **without a refund**. Correct account details as early as Pearson allows (Pearson notes corrections are often possible up to 3 days before the test, and not on test day).

Do not create multiple myPTE accounts. Pearson asks you to merge duplicates before booking, which can delay you.

## After you book

1. Confirm the center address, arrival rules, and what you may bring.
2. Practice on PeakPTE so the computer format feels familiar.
3. Sit the official test. Results and score sending happen inside myPTE, not on PeakPTE.

## Under 18

If you are under 18, Pearson requires a parental consent process before you can test. Start that early so it does not block your date.
