How Starting Point works

Starting Point is PeakPTE's optional placement. It recommends a first practice type without inventing an official PTE score.

Starting Point is an optional placement on PeakPTE. It takes about 8 to 15 minutes. It uses multiple-choice items to recommend where you should practice first. We call it Starting Point in the product, not a diagnostic.

What does Starting Point measure?

It estimates a starting band from a short set of questions. Confidence is intentionally modest because the sample is small. The point is to recommend a first practice type, not to certify your English for a visa or university.

What will you not see?

You will not see per-question scores during placement. You will not see an official overall PTE score. You will not be forced to take it. Onboarding sends you home. A banner on home invites you to start.

What happens after you finish?

You get a practice estimate, an honest confidence note, and a practice CTA for the type that looked weakest. Coach recommendations can use that type afterward. You can skip Starting Point and still use item practice.
